Ive trawled the discussions and cant find anything on the subject of the promotions feature, so i have decided to post this subject.

Is there a way to apply promotions to specific products rather than the promo applying to all products?

I didn't realise promotions was already in one of the betas available for download, but if it is, then the way you use it is to create a special category for a given discount and assign products to the category.

So you might make a category called "10% Discount". There is (or will be) a checkbox to make that category a special hidden one. You then create the discount and assign it to that category. From this point, any product that is going to get that discount is simply assigned to that category. There are (or will be) plenty of options for selecting roles, users, dates, amounts, codes etc. for the discount. New tokens and changes to the checkout will display the new bits to the buyer.

I'm not sure this is in the current beta and it may as yet be changing, so please check the documentation.html in the PA for reference to it and if it isn't there, sit tight a little longer. (the documentation.html within the PA is updated with every release and is the most current and accurate source of information at the moment).

Hopw that helps

Thanks Robax,

Yes, thats perfect, thanks! I simply didnt see the 'category discounts' setting and was entering a coupon discount instead!

However, do i see a bug? When i add a coupon discount, the discount breakdown applies perfectly to the checkout. But when i create a discount on a category, the discount breakdown doesn't appear on the checkout! Ive deleted the coupon discount so that only a category discount is to be applied to a product i created and it still doesnt work.

Any ideas? Can you confirm that this is definately a problem with the beta 2.0 or am i doing something wrong?

First I should make sure your using the lastest version v2.0.2.  The calculations are updated in that version.  If you are, make sure you've enabled the category discount and that the product is in the discount category.

I've done a series of tests with category discount and it seems OK,  but due to the complex nature of discounts there still my be issues, so please report any you find with details on how to recreate it please.

Umm, checked all that and it looks fine and im definately running version 2.0.2 but still no discount breakdown showing in the checkout!

Any chance i can give you access to my portal as admin to have a quick look?

Also, cannot get your [TAG:SALEPRICE] token to work either! Followed your instructions and also created the saleprice.template with the following:

<div><span class="PriceStrikethrough">Prix: [TAG:FROMPRICE][TAG:CURRENCYSYMBOL]</span> <span class="Price">NOW: [TAG:SALEPRICE][TAG:CURRENCYSYMBOL]</span></div>

And then my productdetail.template looks like this:

<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" width="100%">
            <td colspan="3" style="padding-bottom: 10px;"><a href="javascript:history.back()" class="prodlinks"><br />
            Retour</a><span class="nb_store_ReturnButton"> </span></td>
            <h4 align="center">[TAG:MANUFACTURER] [TAG:PRODUCTNAME]</h4>
            <td valign="top">
            <div style="margin: 0px 0px 12px 12px;">[TAG:GALLERY2]</div>
            <div style="margin: 0px 0px 12px 12px;">[TAG:GALLERY3]</div>
            <td width="100%" valign="top">
            <div style="margin: 0px 0px 12px 12px;">[TAG:GALLERY4]</div>
            <div style="margin: 0px 0px 12px 12px;">[TAG:GALLERY5]</div>
            <td colspan="3">[TAG:DESCRIPTION]<br />
            [TAG:SALEPRICE][TAG:EDITLINK]<br />
            <span class="promo">[TAG:XMLDATA:genxml/textbox/DiscText]</span></h6>
            <td align="left" colspan="3">
            <p><img border="0" class="buy" alt="" src="/Portals/4/buy.jpg" /> [TAG:OPTIONNAME1]: [TAG:OPTION1] [TAG:MODELS] Quantité : [TAG:QTY]<span class="nb_store_AddButton">[TAG:ADDTOBASKET]<br />
            <br />
            </span>Délai: [TAG:QTYREMAINING] En Stock</p>

But no price at all is displayed!

I presume this is because the Discount feature doesnt function properly?
